I bought this book originally from WH Smith (stupidly for the full price...ouch) because I really didn't want to look like the stereotypical girl driver 'help i dunno what the piston looks like' (I said stereotypical!). This book helped me out a great deal with identifying whats under the hood, how to check oil levels, questions to ask and things to look for at a dealership (including an ingenious tip involving the pedals and mileage). My only qualms with this book was that there wasn't any explanation of car insurance eg the differences between comprehensive, third party or pass plus = discounts etc because sometimes its the most simplest things that need explaining to anyone.
