Alessandro Zanardi writes about his life as if he was your mate next door. None of the Eddie Irvine stuff, just a normal guy who despite a number of tragedies remained, just Alex!
The book is funny, deeply emotional and full of a zest for life. Surrounded by a loving family from boyhood till today, this man is just incredible! After the pass at the corkscrew he became one of my racing heroes. Now he also is one of the racers I admire most, what a guy!! This book is a must not just for racing fans, but for people whom have to survive life's cruelties. Just brilliant! Alex, you are my Hero!!

Zanadri is an inspiration. I had the privilege of being present at one of Zanardi's greatest races (Vancouver 1997). Even before his life took the terrible turn that it did in September 2001 he was a hero to me.

That said, I have read books on other people I admire and have regretted buying them. This is certainly not one of them. Zanardi doesn't pull any punches on his humble beginnings, successes (and the unexpected negative reactions that this brings from others), his failures (and how when things are going wrong no-one looks you in the eye) and his personal brushes with tragedy. He, however, comes out the end of this as an exceptionally well adjusted and inspirational person.

More than anything this book shows the power of the human spirit. His story transcends the small world of motorsports and tells us something really important about making the best of the hand you have been dealt. Buy it for someone who just might need to be reminded of this important lesson.
